Therapy in Praxis offers assessments, evaluations and interventions for children and young people from 0-25 years of age. Our two specialist facilities are in close proximity to Harrogate, and wider Yorkshire area. However, we serve a national and international client group.
Our team of Specialist Paediatric Therapists are passionate about supporting children and young people to ensure physical, emotional, psychological and social wellbeing.
We support a range of populations including Sensory Processing Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, rare syndromes and genetic conditions, dyspraxia, emotional and behavioural difficulties, social communication and/ or speech and language difficulties, wider physical impairments, ADHD, and other difficulties such as self-confidence or self-esteem problems.
We also work with children who have been fostered or adopted and who may have emotional or attachment issues.
The team provide specialist research, assessment, intervention, and training on a national and international level to families, schools and relevant agencies who deal with children with specific needs. We work with individuals with varying degrees of difficulties, from mild concerns right through to severe disabilities, and believe in holistic care identifying and supporting each child/ young person's health and wellbeing, as well as that of their families.
A proactive approach can provide the best outcomes, however often some of the children they support have been unable to access the appropriate support until they have started to see significant difficulties. Working together with other professions and agencies is the core belief of this team. We can support families or schools with direct intervention within our facilities or another setting, home- or school-based programmes and recommendations, or consultation and advice.
We are also able to provide intervention designed specifically for particular difficulties, such as handwriting or delayed functional skills such as tying shoelaces. We have a range of home-based interventions such as Interactive Metronome, Fast ForWord, CogMed, The Listening Programme, and other co-therapy tools to maximise the benefit of therapeutic intervention. The team also provide specialist intervention that experience feeding difficulties, ranging from being a 'picky eater' to children who are unable to consume anything orally.
There is no concern too big or too small to seek advice, and we are always happy to discuss any concerns you may have, or to make links with other agencies; we are dedicated to supporting children and young people to achieve their potential.
You don't need a referral – you can contact us directly if you have any concerns about your child. Therapy in Praxis has close relationships with other related services such as Functional / Applied Behavioural Therapists / Verbal Behavioural Analysis, Clinical Psychologists and Educational Psychologists and can arrange provision of these if required.
